This means that assignments will be turned in to the World History Google classroom. Invitations to students have been sent to your ollschool email. There will be some changes to the date things are due. If there is a conflict between the date shown on this page and the date shown in Google Classroom - follow the date in Google classroom.
3/19 - Section 4 - The Early Empire pp 286-294 p 294 (1-5) is due 3/20. It should be turned in to Google Classroom 3/20 - You can begin working on the chapter 8 Review. It is due 3/25 and should be turned into the Google Classroom - You should continue working with your partner on your long-term project. The outline is due April 8 and it should be turned in to Google Classroom 3/25 - Make sure you have turned in the Chapter 8 Review to Google Classroom - The World History in IXL assignment should be available in Google Classroom. Follow the steps in the Instructions. 3/31-4/8 - Rome in IXL 1. Log in to IXL 2. Select the Learning tab 3. Select Social Studies 4. Select View by Levels 5. Select Level H 6. Scroll down to J. Rome and the Byzantine Empire 7. Complete 1 through 7 - Rome in Khan Academy Step 1. Log in to your Khan Academy Account Step 2. Go to 6th Grade World History Classroom. Make sure you have joined the classroom first using the link on the stream page. Step 3. Select Assignments Step 4. Complete Assignments - Chapter 8 Quiz - Answer the questions. You may use your notes. Make sure that you are ready to take the quiz because you can only take it once. 5/4 - 5/22 - The Fall of Rome Step 1 - Read pp 317-335 in your textbook. These two sections are about the the end of the Western Roman Empire and the beginnings of what we call the Byzantine Empire. Section 2 will talk about how the part of the Roman Empire that was based in Italy ended and section 3 will show you how the Byzantine Empire is really a continuation of the Roman Empire. Step 2 - Log in to Khan Academy and go through the lessons on the Byzantine Empire. Some of the information will be familiar because you have already done the reading in the textbook but some information will be new. There are 2 videos, 2 articles and 2 exercises. (120 points) Step 3 - Log in to IXL and do the two lessons entitled "The Fall of the Roman Empire" and "The Byzantine Empire" These lessons are located in Level H, Section J, Lessons 8 and 9. These will provide some review and re-enforcement for the reading in the textbook. (100 points) Step 4 - Go to the YouTube video below and watch it. This video will give you a little more information about the Byzantine Empire. Step 5 - Send me a comment about which source of learning you liked the best and why you liked it. Be sure to use examples from the different sources. For example, if you liked reading the textbook best, you might say you liked it the best because the pictures,charts and biography pages made it easier for you to picture what the time period was like. You might also add that IXL and Khan Academy didn't have pictures and the video went too fast. Your comment is your way to show me that you did all the steps of this assignment. (20 points) This assignment is due 5/22. 5/6 and 5/15 - Long-term Project 5/6 – The first draft of the presentation must be available for viewing. This means that the presentation is essentially complete but that editing of individual slides might still need to be done. The reference slide should be in final form by this time. 5/15 – Presentation complete. Your ability to edit the presentation will be removed. You should save your presentation on your google drive and share it with me.
